Thelma Blanton

1923 - 2021

Thelma Blanton, age 98 of Chalybeate, departed this life on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.  The Edmonson County native was born on August 10, 1923 to the late Lonnie and Edna Bynum Hogan.  She was married to Elmer Blanton, who preceded her in death.

Thelma worked as a homemaker, and was a member of Otter Gap Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory— her son, Michael Blanton (Joan) of Chalybeate; daughter-in-law, Signe Blanton of Chalybeate; five grandchildren, Michelle McCoy (Grant), Keith Ohlmer (Amy), Melissa Meinhardt (Billy), Patrick Blanton (Tonya) and Paul Blanton; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Morris Blanton of Brownsville along with several nieces and nephews.  She was also predeceased in death by her son, Larry C. Blanton, sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Conner and three brothers, Buford, Ballard and Edward Hogan.

Interment will be in Otter Gap Church Cemetery.
