Virgie Childress Brown, age 85, of Rocky Hill, departed this life on Friday, April 16, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Huntington Beach, California.  The Edmonson County native was born on August 9, 1935 to the late Clell and Myrtle Lindsey Childress.  She was married to the late John William Vaughan and the late Tim Brown.

Virgie and John were the former owners of Crossroads Market in Rocky Hill.  She practiced the Baptist faith, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

She leaves to honor her memory— one son, Doug Vaughan of Glasgow; one daughter, Deborah Virgie Been (Lowell) of Huntington Beach, CA; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Alton Childres (Joyce) and Lannie Childress (Janice) and one sister, Leoda Moody.  Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Lynn Dreyfuss and five siblings, Wayne, Leonard, Jimmie, Lillie and Edna.

Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery.
