1931 - 2022
Sylvia Stinnett, age 91 of Leitchfield, departed this life on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Grayson Nursing and Rehab. The Edmonson County native was born on April 26, 1931 to the late Carlton and Cora VanMeter Brooks. She was married to Ovie Stinnett, who also preceded her in death.
Sylvia was a homemaker, and a member of Nolin United Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Anneta Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary.
She leaves to honor her memory— her siblings, Nellie Wright of Brownsville, Deborah Reynolds (Dennis) of Glasgow and Reed Brooks of Brownsville; special caregivers, Tammy Ashley, Margaret Langdon and Linda Raymer; several nieces and nephews, along with the caring staff at Grayson Nursing and Rehab that had taken exceptional care of her for many years. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Wetzel, David, Ray, Acie, Wayne, Gene, Kenneth, James and Willie Brooks and sisters, Hazel Hardin, Ollie Logsdon and Bonnie Mann.
Services will be officiated by Bro. Blake Newton. Interment will be in Jock Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to: Jock United Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Brent Ashley, 399 Mc Grew Church Road, Leitchfield, KY 42754.
