1922 - 2021

Cora S. Turner, age 99 of Smiths Grove, departed this life on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Genesis Edmonson Center. The Edmonson County native was born on April 20, 1922 to the late Rev. Charlie and Millie Highbaugh Sanders.  She was married to Carl Turner, who preceded her in death.

Cora was a housewife and former seamstress at Fruit of the Loom.  She was an active member of Fairview United Baptist Church and Capitol Hill Homemakers until her health failed her and she wasn’t able to participate. 

She leaves to honor her memory—four sisters, Daphna Sanders of Rhoda, Barbara Watt (Billy) of Oakland, Betty Childress (Michael) of Munfordville and Cleo Brown (Bill) of Mammoth Cave; two brothers, Oda Sanders (Rosalee) of Pig and Billy Sanders (Barbara) of Mammoth Cave, along with several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Christine Gipson, Delta Sanders and Josie Taylor and three brothers, Clarence, Japath and Duel Sanders.

Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery
