Wesley Carter Hogan, age 89, of Cave City, peacefully departed this life on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Hart County on December 29, 1936, he was the son of the late Robert and Ruby Poynter Hogan. Wesley shared sixty-four wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life and best friend, Elsie Mae Hayes Hogan, who survives.

Wesley proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in the military police from 1962 until 1968. He was a hardworking man who believed in earning an honest living. Throughout the years, he worked as a custodian at Caverna Elementary School, and spent countless hours farming and working in the tobacco patches. No matter the job, Wesley approached it with dedication, and a strong work ethic.

His faith was the foundation of his life. As long as his health permitted, Wesley was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he lovingly served in many roles over the years. He once led the singing, taught Sunday school, and humbly served as trustee, church clerk, and treasurer. He dearly loved the Lord and cherished his church family. In recognition of his service to others, he was also honored as a Kentucky Colonel.

When he wasn't working or serving his church, Wesley enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved singing, hunting, fishing, and spending time around a card table with family and friends. More than anything, he cherished being with his family, sharing laughter, making memories, and enjoying every moment they spent together. His quiet strength, kind heart, unwavering faith, and love for those around him will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

Besides his wife, Elsie, he leaves to honor his memory— three children, Debbie Hatcher (Jeffery) of Cave City, Stephen Hogan (Helen) of Cave City and Leslie Vance (Larry) of Canmer; ten grandchildren, Allen Lee Hogan (Brittany), Rebecca Kauffman (Johnathan), Adam Hatcher (Allison), Alisha Byrd (Anthony), Aaron Hogan (Kristen), Chelsea Hyder (Derek), Irene Hatcher (Jackson), Phillip Vance (Dylan), Zackeri Vance and Veronica King (Travis); eighteen great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Rosa Haynes, James Hogan, Jewell Hogan, Ray Hogan, Robert Hogan, Calvin Hogan, Ellis Hogan, Joe Richard Hogan and Jessel Isenberg.

The interment will be in Dennison-Hogan Cemetery with graveside military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to his wife, Elsie, to assist with final expenses.
