Wanda Vincent VanMeter, age 78, of Leitchfield, peacefully departed this life on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. Born in Edmonson County on November 16, 1947, she was the cherished daughter of the late Chester and Etnie Johnson Vincent. Wanda shared many years of love and companionship with her beloved husband, the late Carry T. VanMeter.
A dedicated seamstress for many years at IMS in Leitchfield, Wanda was known for her strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and caring heart. She was of the Baptist faith and lived her life guided by the values of love, kindness, and devotion to others. Above all else, Wanda treasured her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her unwavering love, encouragement, and presence.
Wanda found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed sewing, tending her garden, and searching for treasures through online auctions, always delighted by a good bargain. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, and her family will forever remember the love she shared so freely, the wisdom she offered, and the countless memories created through the years.
She leaves to honor her memory— her children, Carrie Lynn Wooldridge (Willie) of Leitchfield, Marketta Johnson (Bobby) of Eastview, William Bill VanMeter (Tonya) of Morgantown, Christopher T. VanMeter (Amanda) of Anneta, and Cassie VanMeter (Jermey) of Caneyville; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her siblings, Haskel Vincent, Nada Elmore (Jack), Tommie D. Vincent (Susie), and Darrell Vincent; her special friend, Marvin Burns; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Cole Clouse; her siblings, Linda, Glendean, and Harold Vincent, and her niece, Nada Jean Elmore.
The interment will be in McGrew Cemetery.
