Timothy E. Hume, age 70 of Sweeden, departed this life on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Jefferson County native was born on May 8, 1955 to the late Ida Prunty Hume and Cecil Sherman Hume, Sr. He spent his adult years enjoying the family farm in Sweeden.
Timothy dedicated his life to serving others, beginning his career as a committed member of the Shelbyville Fire Department and a valued Edmonson County Deputy Sheriff. During this time, he demonstrated courage and leadership, joining the U.S. Deputy Sheriff’s Association in pursuit of excellence. He was honored to serve as the past Master Councilor of the Buechel Chapter Order of DeMolay and as the past Illustrious Knight Commander of the C. Frye Haley Memorial Priory, earning the distinguished DeMolay Cross of Honor. As a member of Lone Hill United Baptist Church, Timothy lived his faith through service and kindness. Beyond his achievements, he found inspiration and peace in the outdoors, where he cherished time spent hunting, fishing, and fully embracing the beauty of nature and the joy of life's simple moments.
He leaves to honor his memory— his siblings, Bobby “Bo” Hume of Nashville, TN and Angela Hume Rowden of Bowling Green, along with his special friends, Michael and Baretta Casey, M.D. of Sweeden and Branden Souders of Brownsville. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Mike Chambers, Debbie Freitas, Jimmy Chambers and Terry Hume.
