Roy Dennis Poteet, age 78 of Brownsville, departed this life on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on December 21, 1946 to the late Joseph Melvage and Nina Lindsey Poteet. He was married to his loving wife, Rita Logsdon Poteet, until they were parted by her passing on October 14, 2015.
Dennis enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, retiring as a house technician from TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly smile. In earlier years, he also served the community as an EMT with the Edmonson County Ambulance Service, always willing to lend a helping hand in times of need. Always hardworking and versatile, he also put his talents to use as a painter on the side, a trade that reflected his patience and eye for detail. Beyond his work, Dennis found fellowship and faith as a member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to honor his memory— his son, John Christopher Poteet (Shae) of Brownsville; granddaughter, Haley Poteet; two step-grandchildren, Hannah Grace and Ella Rickard, and his sister, Billie Ann McDougle. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Melvage Poteet, Jr. and Gerald Ray Poteet.
The interment will be in Midway Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to: Midway Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Charles Langdon.
