Robert S. “Bobby” Cannon, Jr., age 80 of Wingfield, was surrounded by his family when he peacefully departed this life at his home on Friday, March 15, 2024. The Edmonson County native was born on October 5, 1943 to the late Robert “Bob” Cannon, Sr. and the late Violet Lorene Elmore Cannon. He was married to his loving and devoted wife of forty-nine years, Gloria Faye Cannon, who survives.
Bobby was saved at the age of fourteen during a revival in Shepherdsville, KY. He served our country as a pipefitter for the U.S. Navy. He was aboard the U.S.S. Brooke during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he took to farming and continued working as a pipefitter.
Besides his wife, Gloria Faye, he leaves to honor his memory— three children, Mary Houchens (J.J.) of Roundhill, Angela D. Cannon (Walter) of Bowling Green and Kevin Cannon (Kim) of Needville, TX; nine grandchildren, Ariel Kendrick (Grant), Kelsey Appleby (Israel), Sarah Appleby, Adrian Cannon, Jada Burris (Joey), Kayla Burris, Megan Cannon, Darrin Cannon and Bianca Cannon; six great-grandchildren, Kaedyn, Elijah and Emma Kendrick, Olivia Perry, Abigail Dennis and Sean Rayne Claborn, III; two brothers, Wilmer Sherrill Cannon (Laverne) and Glen Ray Cannon (Betty); several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, along with his caregivers from Hosparus that his family truly appreciated, Tara, Maggie and Mark. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Christopher Cannon and sisters, Lanada Cannon and Judy Hawks.
Interment will be in Wingfield Church Cemetery with graveside military honors by Nesbit Alexander Memorial Post #6937 VFW.
