Peggy Jane Stice

Peggy Jane Stice, age 85 of Cub Run, departed this life on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY. The Jefferson County native was born on February 23, 1940 to the late Barzilla and Mamie Benham. She was married to her loving husband, James Walton Stice, Sr., until they were parted by his death on December 16, 1991.

Peggy retired from the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home after many years of devoted service, where she cared for others first as a compassionate certified nursing assistant and later as a skilled physical therapy assistant. Her gentle spirit and dedication touched the lives of countless people throughout her career. In her retirement, Peggy found joy in the simple, peaceful moments—losing herself in a good book, expressing her creativity through painting and coloring, and cherishing the quiet beauty of each day. She was a member of Parkwood Methodist Church, where her warmth, kindness, and steady faith inspired those around her.

She leaves to honor her memory— her three children, Patricia Covington (Michael) of Crestwood, James W. Stice, Jr. (Peggy) of Cub Run and Katherine Wright of Louisville; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Hallinan (Scott), Kristie Jones (Danny), Judy Ann Zabenco (Chad), Kelly Stice, Christopher Stice (Heather), Amanda Huchingson (Feliks), Kristopher Huchingson (Sara), Christina Hourigan and Teresa Johnston (Jeremy); sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, along with her siblings, Hazel Sheffield and Leon Benham (Faye). Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by Gertrude Gray, Lucille Samuels, Gerald Benham and Janice Priddy.

The interment will be in Jaggers Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Jaggers Cemetery Fund.
