Pam Poynter, age 61, of Glasgow, departed this life at home, with her family by her side, on Monday, January 5, 2026. A Barren County native, she was born on February 21, 1964, to the late Harold Thomas Esters, Sr., and Elizabeth Pauline Fields. She was married to her devoted husband, Doug, who survives her.
Pam was the very definition of a nurturer, living out her calling through many years of devoted service as a nurse in local hospitals. She cared for others with gentleness, patience, and unwavering compassion, always placing their needs before her own. Proverbs 31:10–12 so beautifully reflects the life she lived: “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need for spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.” Pam embodied these words through her faithfulness, strength, and selfless love.
She had a heart of gold and a spirit that radiated kindness, touching everyone blessed enough to know her. In her quieter moments, Pam found joy in scrapbooking cherished memories, watching God’s magnificent sunrises and sunsets, and traveling to see the beauty of His creation. Above all else, her greatest joys were her deep love for her church family and the precious role she cherished most—being “Nana” to her beloved grandchildren. Pam was a member of Coral Hill Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord and for others was clearly evident. Her legacy is one of love, faith, service, and compassion—a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Besides her husband, Doug, she leaves to honor her memory— her children, Rachel Renner (Torey) of Glasgow, Josh Poynter of Lucas and Jacob Poynter (Alyssa) of Scottsville; her grandchildren, Aubrey Massey, Clayton Cross, Waylon Carmen, Tucker Massey, Courtney Poynter, Paxton Poynter, Zella Poynter, Zoey Poynter and Denver Poynter, and her sister, Hope Atnip (Charles). She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Courtney Poynter, and siblings, Linda Marie Billa, Belinda Thomas Miller and Harold Thomas Esters, Jr.
The interment will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Courtney Poynter Scholarship Fund.
