Mary Lou Wilson, born on May 30, 1947, in Slick Rock, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at her home in Glasgow. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas Burris and Anner Zorader Shirley and was preceded in death by her siblings Ruby Williams, Junior Burris, and Helen Jackson. Mary was a devoted wife of fifty-eight years to Philip Wilson, who survives.
Mary was a dedicated member of Penick’s Chapel Baptist Church. She and her husband co-owned and operated Clarkson Super Saver grocery store in Grayson County for many years, and she later worked at Carhartt, embodying a strong work ethic and a spirit of service. She found joy in trying new recipes and cooking for her family, and her love for them was evident in every meal she prepared. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Besides her husband, Philip, she leaves to honor her memory—her loving daughter, Lisa Owens (Joe) of Hodgenville, KY; her granddaughter, Taylor Wilson of Garland, TX; sister, Elsie Jessie of Louisville, KY; brothers, Gordon Burris of Cave City, KY, and Roger Burris of Knob Lick, KY, as well as one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.
