Leroy lived a life defined by love, dedication, service, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.

Leroy Olison Owens, age 80, of Cave City, was welcomed into his eternal home on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant, and hardworking man, Leroy lived a life defined by love, dedication, service, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. The Barren County native was born on May 4, 1946, to the late Willie “Bill” and Gladys Marie Hughes Owens. He married the love of his life, Jean Craine Owens, and together they shared sixty-one and a half years of marriage. Jean remained by his side through every season of life.

Leroy was a proud 1964 graduate of Edmonson County High School. He spent more than thirty-three years working as a communications lineman for GTE, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to serve others. When he wasn’t working, Leroy could often be found doing what he loved most—farming. He farmed all of his life, taking great pride in the land, the work of his hands, and the simple rewards that came from a lifetime of hard work.

His faith was an important part of who Leroy was. At the age of eighteen, Leroy found the Lord during a revival held by Bro. Rayburn Parker at Cedar Hill United Baptist Church. From that day forward, his faith became a guiding part of his life and the foundation upon which he sought to live and serve others. He faithfully served Salem Baptist Church as a deacon, trustee, and member of various committees, including the finance committee. His service extended beyond the church as well, as he volunteered with Park City EMS through the years and was a member of the Barren County Cattlemen’s Association. Leroy never hesitated to lend a helping hand, and his quiet willingness to serve was one of the many qualities that made him so respected and loved by those who knew him.

Yet, above all of his accomplishments and service to others, Leroy treasured his family most of all. He loved them beyond measure and took great pride in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Besides his loving wife, Jean, he leaves to honor his memory— his children, Delana Owens Webb (Will) and Kevin Lee Owens, all of Cave City; grandchildren, Christian Shaun Cooper (Jenna Beth), Lindsay Marie George (Nathan), Brayden Zachary Wilson (Brooklyn), McKenzie Lee Mummert (Clayton), and Leslie Olison Owens; great-grandchildren, Peyton Jackman Lemily, Oakley Nichole George, Zachariah Nash Hughes, and Beckham Tate Cooper; sister, Martha Talley (Gary); and sisters-in-law, Bilie C. Daniels and Sue Craine, along with several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Donald E. Daniels and Robert A. Craine; sister-in-law, Janice Craine; and nephew, Michael Allen Craine.

The interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.
