Lauri Anderson Hoover passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2026, following an accident while visiting dear friends in North Carolina. Born in Nashville and raised in Decatur, Alabama, Lauri was a lifelong Alabama Crimson Tide fan who loved sports, summers at Palmetto Bible Camp, beach trips, musical theater, and her church community. For more than 35 years, she poured her heart into special education in Tennessee, North Carolina, and most recently Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville — a calling that touched countless students, families, and colleagues.

Above all, Lauri loved her people. She was Mom to her three children and cherished being "LaLa" to her five grandchildren, showing up faithfully for everyone she loved.

She leaves to honor her memory-- her children, Rachel LaCroix (James), Amanda Ables (Will), and Jamison Hoover; her grandchildren London Hoover, Paris Hoover, Henry Ables, Josephine Ables, and Sophie LaCroix; her mother, Judith Swannigan; her brother, Craig Anderson, and a wide circle of friends and former students.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Westport Road Church of Christ, with visitation from 10–11 AM - EST and services beginning at 11 AM - EST.  A private burial will take place at New Liberty Cemetery in Brownsville, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children, supporting special education in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
