Larry Clemmons, age 78, of Brownsville, departed this life on Monday, April 6, 2026, at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on January 11, 1948, to the late Clyde and Lois Graham Clemmons. He was married to his devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Danzel Lindsey Clemmons, until they were parted by her passing on August 7, 2025.
Larry was a man defined by unwavering honesty and a work ethic that never wavered. His hands bore the marks of a lifetime of labor, but they also told the story of a man whose greatest joy was caring for his family. He dedicated many years to Chain and Cable before retiring, but retirement did not slow him down. Larry continued working with the same determination, laying asphalt, trimming trees, and tending to the demands of farm life. Whether in the fields raising tobacco or taking on another hard day’s work, he gave his all in everything he did. Larry was more than a hardworking man—he was a true friend and a dependable neighbor. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, offering his time, strength, and kindness without expecting anything in return. He was also a member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church, a place that remained meaningful to him throughout his life.
Above all, Larry loved his family deeply. He took great pride in their lives and accomplishments, always wanting to hear what they were doing. His love was steady and supportive—a foundation his family could always rely on.
He leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Junior Clemmons (Teresa) of Pig and Chad Clemmons (Leslie) of Brownsville; grandchildren, Shane Doyel (Kristin), Colten Clemmons (Ginnie), Nick Clemmons, Clay Clemmons and Presley Kendall; great-grandchildren, Hallie Ashley, Layne Ashley, Cade Clemmons, Stevie Rose, Lily and Lena Doyel, along with his special caregivers, Anna Haynes, Betty Vincent and Sherryl VanAcker. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Dallas Kendall and siblings, Kenneth and Romie Clemmons, Freda Brooks, Wanda Blanton Lashley and Vanda Davis.
The interment will be in Oak Grove Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Oak Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o A.B. Webb.
