Joyce Ann Wood

Joyce Ann Wood, age 82 of Smiths Grove, peacefully departed this life, with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the comforts of her daughter’s home. The Hart County native was born on March 7, 1942 to the late William and Ruby Hazelwood Jaggers. She was married to her husband, Phillip Wood, who also preceded her in death.

Joyce was a member of Northtown United Baptist Church. She was the friendly face that greeted customers at Walmart in Bowling Green for many years. She loved her family above all, and spent most of her life working hard to provide for them.

She leaves to honor her memory— her children, Michelle Skaggs (Scott) of Chalybeate, Kim Wood of Smiths Grove, Larry Smith of Smiths Grove and David Wood (Kim) of Scottsville; grandchildren, Tiffany Smith (Jason), Tyler Skaggs (Morgan), Samantha Shemwell (Allen), Caleb Skaggs (Maddie), Holden Skaggs (Baley), Ashley Koch (Jon) and Cori Emberton (Brad); thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Jewell Hawkins, Ewell Jaggers, Alice Burd, Bonnie Jones, Ricky Jaggers and Jerry Jaggers; daughter-in-law, Patricia Marr and special caregiver, Cheryl White Wilson. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Lucas Wood, and siblings, Howard Jaggers, Shirley Maulden, Judy Jaggers, Kenneth Jaggers, Robert Jaggers and Charles Jaggers. 

Interment will be in Smiths Grove Cemetery.
