Joyce Richards Cureton, age 76 of Smiths Grove, departed this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at her residence. The Edmonson County native was born on July 5, 1949 to the late Rev. Ernest and Grace Webb Richards. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ronnie Hudson, and later, Jack L. Cureton, each of whom she shared meaningful chapters of her life.
Joyce was a gifted and creative floral designer who shared her talent for many years at Kerr’s Flowers, where her love for beauty and detail shone through every arrangement. After retiring, she embraced a slower pace of life, finding joy in peaceful waterfront views, crocheting with care, preparing delicious meals, and spending precious time with her beloved family, especially her sister, Linda. She was a member of Fairview United Baptist Church, and held her church family close to her heart.
She leaves to honor her memory— her children, Kanina Bullard (Tony) of Columbus, IN and David Hudson (Wendy) of Smiths Grove; her grandchildren, Sondra Bullard, Whitney Sanders (Alex), Austin Bullard, Crystal Bullard, Jenni Bullard, Kaisey Layne Hester and Harlie Holman (Colten); great-grandchildren, Emersyn Hester, James River Holman, Lainey Grace Holman and Michael Alan Bullard; siblings, Roy Richards (Peggy) and Linda Russell, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins who shared a special bond with Joyce. Besides her husbands and parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Bennie Earl Richards, Howard Richards, Faye Woodcock and Gloria Gaye McDougle.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The interment will be in Fairview Church Cemetery.
