Joe Carl Daugherty, age 68 of Cedar Springs, was surrounded by his family when he peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on August 26, 1957 to JoAnn Beckner Daugherty and the late Carl Preston Daugherty. He was married to his loving and devoted wife of thirty-five years, Joan Wells Daugherty, until she was called to her eternal home on May 18, 2014.
Joe Carl dedicated many years of his life as a heavy equipment operator, most recently for Sliger Excavating. He served as Edmonson County District 3 Constable since 1999 and was a proud member of the Kentucky Constable Association, always eager to lend a helping hand. Joe Carl’s strong commitment to his community was also reflected through his membership in the Oakland Masonic Lodge #563 F&AM; the Rocky Hill VFD, where he was president of the board; the Brownsville Order of Eastern Star, and the Cedar Springs United Baptist Church—a place he cherished deeply. In years past, he also served as deputy jailer and animal control officer for Edmonson County. Joe Carl never met a stranger; he brought joy to every room, especially when sharing stories and laughter at Porky Pig Diner. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering friendliness touched everyone he met, inspiring those around him to do the same.
Besides his mother, JoAnn, he leaves to honor his memory— his children, Jennifer Daugherty (Jon) of Smiths Grove, Joe Carl W. “J.C.” Daugherty (Brittany) of Cedar Springs and Justina Pedigo (Josh) of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Jaxson Daugherty, Ace Daugherty, Jaycee Daugherty, Grayson Gibson, Kaleb Vibbert and Linkin Pedigo; sister, Alta Sanders (Robbie) of Cave City; brother-in-law, David Prather of Rocky Hill, along with several nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Bradley Allen Daugherty and Beverly Prather.
The interment will be in Lambert Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to: Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society or the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home in Louisville.
