James Westly McCrady

James Westly McCrady, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025. Born on July 26, 1942, to Serelda and Wren McCrady, James lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to family and friends.

James proudly served his country in the United States Navy before embarking on a long career as a truck driver. Known for his warm heart and larger-than-life personality, he never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. A lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky, James cheered on the Wildcats with unmatched enthusiasm.

James is survived by his daughters, Yavonda Waddell and Dana Fryrear (Todd); his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, Sophie, and Zoey; his dear friend, Betty Beach; and a host of extended family and friends who will carry his memory forward with love. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara McCrady, and his son, Chris McCrady.

James will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought into the lives of others.
