Irene York

Irene Skaggs Oakes York, age 83 of Brownsville, passed away Thursday, March, 29, 2007 at her residence. She was born on April 25, 1923 in Edmonson County to the late Rance Skaggs and Roseann Whobrey Skaggs and married to the late Leo Oakes and Clarence Gaitward York. She was a homemaker and a member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Regina Byrnes of Woodburn, KY; four sons, Ronnie Oakes and wife Sharon of Sanford, FL, Michael Oakes and wife Charlotte of Alvaton, KY, David Oakes and wife Donna of Scottsville and Steve Oakes of Auburn, KY; one sister, Christine McCrady of Brownsville, KY; 2 half brothers, Robert Skaggs of Illinois and Larry Skaggs of Lindseyville; six halfsisters, Linda Sanders of Louisville, Frances McCrady of Lindseyville, Lillian Lindsey of Brownsville, Betty Hester of Bowling Green, Anna Short of Indiana and Gay Carder of Brownsvilleseven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Callie Browning; two brothers, Claudie R. and Willie Gene Skaggs and two grandsons Larry and Terry Webb. Services will be officiated by Bro.
