Her family, most especially her grandchildren, was truly the center of her world.
Ilene Brooks Elmore, age 68, of Chalybeate, peacefully departed this life and welcomed into her eternal home on Friday, September 11, 2026. A native of Edmonson County, she was born on October 19, 1957 to the late Tommie and Loretta Doyle Brooks. Ilene was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, sister, and friend. For fifty-one years, she shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Terry Elmore, who survives. Their years together were filled with love, family, countless memories, and a lifetime of shared experiences.
Ilene spent many years working in the banking industry, serving as a new accounts and customer service representative for several area banks, most recently South Central Bank. She was known for her warm personality and her genuine care for the people she served. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a cherished member of Cedar Hill United Baptist Church, a place she loved and held close to her heart. Her church family was a meaningful part of her life, and she found comfort and joy in her faith and fellowship with others.
Outside of work and church, Ilene found happiness in the simple things that make life special. She loved getting lost in a good book, searching for unique antiques, tending to her beautiful flower garden, playing games, and, most of all, spending time visiting and making memories with her family and friends. Her family, most especially her grandchildren, was truly the center of her world, and those who knew Ilene knew just how deeply she loved and treasured each and every one of them.
In addition to her husband, Terry, she leaves to honor her memory— her cherished sons, Chris Elmore (Latisha) of Boiling Springs and Kyle Elmore (Briton) of Chalybeate; and her precious grandchildren, Aiden Elmore, Will Elmore, Maggie Elmore, Molly Elmore, and Charlotte Elmore, whom she loved and treasured beyond measure. She also leaves her siblings, Alicia Reid (Joe) of Glasgow, Lolita Carroll (Foran) of Glasgow, Cary Brooks (Kaye) of Chalybeate, and Lanell Word (Tommy) of Summer Shade, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. Besides her parents, Ilene was preceded in death by her sister, Michelle Young; father-in-law, Paul Elmore; and brother-in-law, Timmy Elmore.
The interment will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Hill United Baptist Church or Boiling Springs Church Cemetery.
