Howard Kelly Hogan, age 72, of Brownsville, departed this life on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Edmonson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Jefferson County native was born on April 6, 1954 to the late Oliver Donald and Blanch Newton Hogan.
As a young boy, Howard was saved by God’s graces at Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. This remained a meaningful part of his life’s story. In his later years, Howard made his home in Brownsville, Kentucky, where he became part of the local community. He served as manager of Meredith Pay Lake, a role that allowed him to put his skills and experience to use while becoming a familiar face to those who visited and enjoyed the lake.
Howard enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, hunting, and working on cars. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and western movies. Known for his funny sense of humor, Howard loved to joke around, pull pranks, and keep those around him laughing. He had a playful spirit and a way of bringing laughter into everyday moments, creating memories that his loved ones will carry with them for years to come.
He leaves to cherish his memory— his beloved son, Todd Hogan of Bowling Green, who will forever cherish the memories of his father. He is also survived by his two sisters, Betty Ann Ishmael (Craig) and Barbara Munsey (Robert), all of Louisville, along with his five nieces and nephews: Dylan Sturgeon, Amanda Toler, Madison Ishmael, Justin Munsey, and Corey Munsey.
Though his passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him, the memories of Howard’s humor, his love for the outdoors, and the time shared with family will live on in their hearts. His jokes and pranks may have stirred up a little mischief along the way, but they also brought laughter and created moments that will never be forgotten.
