Gene Pedigo, age 84, of Park City, departed this life on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Barren County was born on January 24, 1942 to the late Lawrence and Vera Sexton Pedigo.
Gene dedicated many years of his life to working as a machinist at SKF in Glasgow, where he eventually retired after a lifetime of hard work and commitment. He took great pride in providing for his family, and his strong work ethic was evident in everything he did. Gene was a dependable man who believed in the value of honest labor and quietly showed his love through the sacrifices he made for those he cherished most. Outside of work, Gene found his greatest joy in the simple things in life. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and enjoying nature, where he felt most at peace. More than anything, he treasured the moments shared with his family, creating memories that will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Gene was a man of the Baptist faith, and his life reflected the humility, kindness, and steadfast values he carried with him each day.
He leaves to honor his memory— his daughter, Wilma Layman (Scott) of Caneyville; granddaughters, Lindsey Pedigo and Kimberly Chapman; great-granddaughter, Kobie Chapman; son-in-law, Tony Neal and daughter-in-law, Peggy Carey, along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Gladys Dyer Pedigo: his children, Timmy Pedigo and Audrey Neal; grandson, Josh Layman; sisters, Ruby Bragg, Mary Poole, Nancy Johnson and Dorothy Mae Carter; infant siblings, Shirley and Jerry Pedigo, and nephews, Randall Carter, Eddie Atkins and Allen Johnson.
The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
