Eddie Stewart

1952 - 2022

Eddie Stewart, age 69 of Lexington departed this life on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital.  The Jefferson County native was born on March 31, 1952 to the late Samuel Edward Stewart, Sr. and Mildred Jeanette Stewart.  He was married to his devoted wife and best friend, Norma Jean Johnson Stewart, who survives.

Eddie had a true servant’s heart.  He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, a former fire fighter for Okolona VFD, and retired as a detective from the Louisville Police Department.  Following his public service, he was an educator with the Paoli School System and Crawford County Schools.  He was of the Baptist faith,  a member of the Boaz Masonic Home Lodge #850 F&AM and the Fraternal Order of Police.

In addition to his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— his son, Steven Edward Stewart (Barbara) of Mt. Washington; two daughters, Angela Marie Shelman of Mt. Washington and Sierra Nicole Stewart of Lexington; a granddaughter, Madison Sinclair Shelman and siblings, Skip Stewart (Marilyn), Sandra Elaine Gaither (Bill) and Bonnie Sue Tindle (Larry).  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Jeremy Stewart and dear cousin that he loved like a brother, David Stewart.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with graveside military honors by Nesbit Alexander Memorial Post #6937 VFW.
