Eddie R. Houchens, age 73, of Glasgow, departed this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Barren County Nursing and Rehabilitation. The Barren County native was born on March 3, 1953 to the late John Franklin and Verda Mae Houchens.

Eddie dedicated many years of service as a material handler with RR Donnelley, where he was known for his dependability and strong work ethic. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. In his spare time, Eddie found great enjoyment in fishing and searching for Native American artifacts, treasures that connected him to history and the outdoors he loved. Most of all, he will be remembered for his generous heart. Eddie was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer support, and make sure his family and friends were taken care of.

He leaves to honor his memory— his children, John E. Houchens (Amanda) of Bon Ayr, Aimee Shockley (Derek) of Glasgow, Andy Houchens (Timeka) of Glasgow and Adam Houchens (Brandy) of Alvaton; grandchildren, Shelby Pace (Wes), SheaLee Coy, Drew Shockley (fianceé, Leslie), Haley Scott (Wade), Whitney Houchens, Brilee Comer, Cali Houchens, Pierce Houchens, Tripp Houchens, Wyatt Houchens, Chloe Pace, Baylor Brooks, Hattie Pace, Lyric Coy, Bristol Brooks, Eliana Essex and Lailyn Medley; siblings, Patty Bridgeman, Marcy Robertson, Paul Houchens and Carol Rich (Darrell). He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Nell, Frank, Bill, Margie, Johnny, James and Sara.
