Donald Franklin Doyel, age 85 of Park City, departed this life on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Signature Healthcare in Glasgow, KY. The Edmonson County native was born on June 9, 1940 to the late Rev. Willie and Leona Doyel. He was married to Sandra Lindsey Doyel, who also preceded him in death.

Donald dedicated much of his life to serving the people of Edmonson County. He served with distinction as County Judge Executive, a role in which he worked diligently to support local growth and the well-being of its citizens. During his term, he also served as chairman of the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD) Board, where he contributed to regional planning and development efforts.

In addition to his public service, Donald was a hardworking businessman and entrepreneur. He co-owned and operated Standard Service and Sunoco stations in Brownsville, as well as Seven Springs restaurant in Chalybeate, establishments that were well known and valued within their communities. Later in life, he retired from Scott and Ritter, where he worked in construction, bringing with him the same strong work ethic that defined all aspects of his career. Additionally, Donald was a man of faith and remained a member of Rolling Hills United Baptist Church until his passing. In his free time, Donald loved the freedom of riding his motorcycle through the countryside and spending peaceful moments fishing.

He leaves to honor his memory— his children, Donna Hennion (Mark), Danita Elmore (Marty) all of Chalybeate, Chris Potter of Cave City, Cecily Brown (Kevin) of Lebanon and Bella Doyel of Park City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Powell (Dorris) of Bowling Green and Regina Parsley-Byrd (Ken) of Chalybeate, along with his nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The interment will be in Johnson Cemetery.
