Darlene Huffman Menser, age 93 of St. Charles, formerly of Bee Spring, departed this life on January 15, 2026 at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital of Madisonville. The Grayson County native was born on January 19, 1932, the youngest of fourteen children, to the late Rev. Adam and Ida Kidwell Decker. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lester Huffman, and later, James L. Menser, each of whom she loved deeply and shared meaningful chapters of her life.
Darlene and her husband, Lester, proudly owned and operated Huffman General Merchandise in Bee Spring for many years, where she became a familiar and friendly face to all who passed through its doors. Following Lester’s passing, she went on to work as a cashier with Mammoth Cave National Park Concessions, continuing her lifelong dedication to serving others. Throughout these years, Darlene remained a faithful and active member of her community and Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She was deeply respected by all who knew her and was truly the definition of a lady—gracious and dignified in every way.
She leaves to honor her memory— Kerry L. Huffman (Donna) of St. Peters, Missouri; grandson, Adam Huffman of St. Peters, Missouri; step children, Clayton Menser of Crown Pointe, NY, James Arthur Menser (Sally) of Fayetteville, NC and Veronica Mika of Alabama, along with several nieces and nephews.
The interment will be in Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Barry Jo Rich.
