Daniel L. “Danny” Patton, age 72, of Grassland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at his daughter’s home.  The Edmonson County native was born on September 17, 1949, to the late Andy Rex, Jr. and Cornelia Patton.

Danny worked as a farmer and cattleman throughout his life, and was a 1968 graduate of Edmonson County High School.  In his younger years, he worked construction,  was later employed by Irving Materials, Inc. and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 89.  During his father’s term as Edmonson County Sheriff, he also served as a deputy. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and be with his beloved grandchildren.

Danny left his testimony of finding  the Lord through salvation in the little barn on his family’s home place.  He was a faithful member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his passing.

He leaves to honor his memory— three daughters, Sarah Woosley (Mark) of Big Reedy, Danielle Patton (Virgil Vertrees) of Sweeden and Mary Beth Patton (Ernie Thomas) of Alvaton; grandchildren, Daniel Woosley, Lily Woosley, Jenna Woosley-Owens (Brandon), Avary Vertrees, Audra Vertrees, Clementine Vertrees, Addison Thomas and Cora Thomas; sisters, Mary Ann Orr (Charles) of Cave City, Javetta Cox of Morgantown, Jenny Patton of Morgantown; brother, David Patton (Teri) of Miami, FL, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew Ricky and JoEllen Patton, and brother-in-law, Jackie Cox.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to: Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, 2200 Children’s Way, Nashville, TN 37232, www.childrenshospitalvanderbilt.org.

Interment will be at Pleasant Union Church cemetery.

AT THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY, THE VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE PRIVATE.
