Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Clifford Thomas Ray, age 81, of Brownsville, peacefully departed this life surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on September 26, 1944 to the late Clifford and Naoma Lottie Rountree Ray. He was married to his devoted wife, help mate and best friend of sixty-two years, Brenda Browning Ray, who survives.

Clifford devoted many years of hard work and dedication to his career, first retiring from Eaton Corporation and later continuing his work until his retirement from Huish Detergents. He took great pride in providing for his family and in the work he did throughout his life. A man of deep and abiding faith, Clifford was a faithful member of Beaver Dam Chapel United Baptist Church—a place he cherished deeply and where his presence was a blessing to all who knew him. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived, always offering kindness, warmth, and a welcoming spirit.

Clifford truly never met a stranger. His genuine smile and friendly nature had a way of making everyone feel at ease and valued. He carried a light that drew people to him, leaving lasting impressions wherever he went. Above all, Clifford shared a beautiful and devoted life with his beloved wife, Brenda. Together, they found joy in life’s simple pleasures—working side by side in the garden, keeping up the yard work and sharing their daily breakfasts, moments that became cherished traditions. Hand in hand and heart to heart, their love was a testament to companionship, devotion, and enduring partnership.

Besides his wife, Brenda, he leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Kevin Ray (Donna) and Keith Ray (Kayla); grandchildren, Kyle Ray (Amanda), Raeleigh Ray, Colton Kitchens and Brylee Kitchens; great-grandchild, Evan Ray; siblings, Morton Ray (Carlene), Gary Ray and Pearlene Blanton (Britt), along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Leo Ray.

The interment will be in Kinslow Cemetery.
