Bro. Gary D. Pennington

Bro. Gary D. Pennington, age 69, of Cave City, KY departed this life on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his residence. The Louisville native was born on April 24, 1954, to the late Walter Lee and Edna Elizabeth Pennington. He was married for 45 years to his devoted wife, Debbie Jo Tarter Pennington, who survives.

Bro. Gary served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He worked in the plating department for Southern Gravure. After working at Southern Gravure, he became an ordained Baptist minister and was active in youth ministry for over 20 years. He also worked with the ADO program, and most recently worked with the Sr. Adult Ministry. He was a member of Horse Cave Baptist Church.

Bro. Gary truly had a servant’s heart.  He enjoyed helping people and was most known for being a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend to many.

Besides his wife Debbie, he leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Timothy Lee Pennington (Amanda) of Frakes, KY, and Anthony Scott Pennington of Cave City; grandchildren, Amberlynn Wood, Adrianna Duggin (Tomy), Khloe Pennington, Dorothy Pennington, Sabrina Pennington and Alex Pennington and his siblings, Kenneth Pennington, Barbara Yarber, Mike Pennington (Debbie), Steve Pennington and Vickie Ledford (David).

Memorial contributions can be made to:  St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Horse Cave Baptist Church. 

Interment will be in Lambert Cemetery, Cedar Springs, KY.
