Bobby Wendell Peters, age 82 of Cecilia, departed this life on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown. The Hardin County native was born on January 9, 1943 to the late Eddie and Bertha Brown Peters. He was married to his loving wife, Renate Peters, until the Lord called her home.
Bobby devoted many years of his life to working in maintenance at Fort Drive Inn Cleaners, a place where his strong work ethic and reliability were deeply valued. Later, he proudly joined the team at Les Pinkham Auto. Bobby was known for his pleasant, jovial spirit—a kind soul whose warmth, gentle humor, and genuine smile drew people to him effortlessly. He loved visiting with others and had a special gift for storytelling, often sharing a good story simply to brighten someone’s day.
In his spare time, he found joy in working outdoors, whether gardening, caring for his lawn, or spending hours working on his classic Mustangs—projects that reflected both his patience and passion. Above all, Bobby found his greatest peace in his faith. He attended Open Valley United Missionary Baptist Church with his family, where he felt deeply comforted and at home.
He leaves to honor his memory— his granddaughter, Megan Beres of Upton; great-grandsons, Ethan Boggs and Matthew Boggs of Upton; sisters, Bonnie Lucas of Cecilia, Alice Elliott of Eastview, Iona Waddell (Gary) of Elizabethtown and Emily Emery (Ricky) of Eastview; step sons, Walter Thomas and Marcus Thomas (Heather); special friend, Ann, along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Besides his wife and parents, Renita, Eddie and Bertha, he was also preceded in death by his children, Donna Kay Binder, Sandra Denise Lamas, Bobby Peters, Jr. and Marsha Gail Peters and siblings, Hansel Peters and Regina Goodman.
The interment will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
