Bill Hiltner, age 65, of Park City, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The Defiance, Ohio native was born on December 5, 1960 to Bill and Bert Merritt and the late Charles William “Charley Bill” Hiltner, Sr. He was married to his soul mate and best friend, Jamie Hiltner, who survives.
Bill had a servant’s heart from a young age and carried that spirit of service with him throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard, demonstrating his deep commitment to helping and protecting others. In his daily life, Bill continued that same dedication through his work in maintenance for the City of Park City, where he took great pride in improving the community he loved. Whether fixing something that was broken or building something new, Bill found joy in creating things that would benefit others. He loved working with his hands and was always eager to take on a new project that could make someone’s life a little better. Bill was excitedly working on his newest project at Pee Wee’s Pizza, Wings and Ice Cream, continuing his passion for building, improving, and serving others. Even in his passing, Bill’s generous and caring heart continued to shine, as he gave the gift of life to others through the donation of his organs.
Besides his wife and parents, Jamie, Bill and Bert, he leaves to honor his memory— his children, Brad Lee (Valerie) of Westerville, OH, Angel Bell (Johnny) of Glasgow, Samantha Francis (fiance’ Ruben) of Park City, Dylan Hiltner (Jade) of Pueblo West, CO, Miranda Schnitkey (Aaron) of Napoleon, OH, Paige Hiltner of Bowling Green and Emma Hiltner of Park City; fourteen grandchildren; siblings, Jimmy Hiltner (Tammy) and Amy Miller (Chris), along with a host of friends.
Bill will be lovingly carried to his final resting place at Evergreen Cemetery by his children, a final tribute to the deep love and bond they shared.
In honor of his giving spirit and the many ways he worked to make Park City a better place, memorial contributions may be made toward the purchase of a Memorial Buddy Bench to be placed at the city park. It is hoped that this bench will serve as a place of kindness, friendship, and connection for children and families for years to come—just as Bill would have wanted. Donations may be mailed to City of Park City, PO Box 304, Park City, KY 42160 or through Venmo— @miranda-schnitkey.
